USPA NEWS - "The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna, received her British counterpart, James Cleverly, on March 10, 2023, on the sidelines of the 36th Franco-British summit, which marks a new impetus in the relationship between our two countries, five years after the Sandhurst summit. On this occasion, the two ministers recalled their common desire to intensify their coordination on major international issues, first and foremost our common support for Ukraine in the face of the brutal and illegal aggression of which it is the victim by Russia, or still on Iran, in Africa and in the Indo-Pacific zone. " Source: French Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On this occasion, the two ministers recalled their common desire to intensify their coordination on major international issues, first and foremost our common support for Ukraine in the face of the brutal and illegal aggression of which it is the victim by Russia, or still on Iran, in Africa and in the Indo-Pacific zone. " Source: French Ministry of Foreign Affairs Furthermore, the ministers decided to work closely together in the preparation of the next summits of the European Political Community (EPC), in particular the one organized by Moldova, in Chisinau, on 1 June next, before the one to be organized by the Kingdom -United. Ms Colonna and Mr Cleverly recalled that the challenges facing our two countries, such as energy security, the protection of our critical infrastructures, or the fight against illegal immigration, call for responses at the level of the European continent, for which CPE provides a useful framework. The two ministers also stressed the importance of good preparation for the next NATO summit which will take place in July, in Vilnius, to implement the decisions of the Madrid summit in June 2022. They insisted on the necessary complementarity , reinforced in the context of the Russian war against Ukraine, between the Atlantic Alliance and the European Union. Finally, with regard to global issues and the necessary strengthening of multilateralism, France and the United Kingdom recalled their ambitions in terms of climate and biodiversity and the importance of working together to strengthen United Nations governance."
